Just Show Up Networking Group

Just Show Up is a great (and free!) opportunity to meet other business and professional people around Annapolis. I attended my first meeting this past summer, and formed a good business partnership at my very first meeting! Attendance averages about 20, and a wide range of professions is represented. If you’re looking for a networking group without the strict requirements of some of the other organizations, check it out! We meet every Wednesday at 9am at 49 West Coffeehouse. I could tell you more, but here’s a link to a great little article about it:  http://barnhillaccounting.com/?p=251

JFK Assassination

JFK Salute

John F. Kennedy, Jr. – Stan Stearns

With all the media coverage this week, I’m sure that everyone realizes that this Friday marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination. All these years later, it remains one of the saddest days in America’s history. The one photo that instantly recalls that tragedy was made by my friend and fellow Annapolis photographer, Stan Stearns. Stan passed away last year, but his iconic image of John F. Kennedy, Jr. (John-John), will live on forever. Stan entrusted me to carry on his legacy, and I will always strive to do that.

Stan left me the last three signed limited edition prints of that famous photograph. He autographed one directly to me, and it now hangs in a prominent location in my home. I have decided to part with the other two. Both are black and white archival pigment prints, sized at 16×20 inches, hand-printed and signed by Stan shortly before his passing. One is the cropped version as has been most widely seen around the world, and the other is the full image that is lesser known. A handful of both of these versions have previously sold for substantial amounts at galleries in New York, Santa Fe, and Palm Beach.

If you know of a serious collector who would be interested in preserving these unique treasures, please let me know.

News of Stan’s passing appeared in over 200 newspapers worldwide, as well as TV, radio, and other media:

Woodsnap features my portrait

Maternity Portrait on Wood

David Anderson Photography – from Woodsnap

When I attended ImagingUSA last January, I met some great people with a company called Woodsnap. Woodsnap is the original print on wood company. I had seen their ads, but hadn’t yet looked at their work in person. Once I did, I was convinced that they were the best, and the best is always what I want for my clients.  I quickly tried them out, and loved what I got. In fact, they are currently featuring my very first portrait with them on their website (the maternity portrait shown here).

Check out this short video and you’ll get an idea of why I use Woodsnap to make beautiful, contemporary portraits:
